Daniel was welcomed back to the club to give what was a very comprehensive and well illustrated talk on Macro photography. He began with discussing what is the definition of true macro photography and compared it to close up photography using for example zoom lenses. He discussed the equipment that he used and alternative ways of taking highly magnified images by for example reversing a 50mm lens on a camera or using extension tubes.
Techniques using flash with diffusers and polarising filters to cut down on reflections were discussed and the use of focus stacking with appropriate software was also covered.
Last but not least the importance of composition was emphasised, avoiding distracting backgrounds.
This was an enjoyable evening from which we all benefited.
